Accurascale's OO scale model of the BR Class 89 'Badger' electric locomotive is a highly detailed representation of the prototype locomotive. The model is based on the manufacturer's Class 92 platform and features six-axle bogies, a pantograph that can be raised or lowered under DC or DCC control, and all-wheel power.

The model is built to a high standard, with a die-cast metal chassis, RP25-110 profile OO wheels, and separately-applied etched metal and plastic detail parts. The locomotive also features scale width wire handrails, a full underframe tank with brackets and pipework, and fully sprung metal buffers and bufferplate.

The model is DCC ready with a PowerPack capacitor for uninterrupted power and features a high-performance five-pole motor with two flywheels and a metal helical gearbox. The locomotive achieves a minimum scale top speed of 125 mph and has all-wheel drive with all-wheel pickup.

The model also features a highly detailed lighting pack with directional lighting, switchable red and white marker lights, and separately switched cab lighting. The locomotive is available in DCC sound-fitted or non-DCC options.

The prototype Class 89 locomotive was built by British Rail Engineering Ltd at Crewe Works in 1986 and was used as a test bed between 1986 and 1988 on the East and West Coast routes. It was later delivered in the InterCity Executive scheme and was repainted in the Swallow livery in 1988. The locomotive was preserved and has seen various changes in ownership, including being acquired by privatised ECML operator GNER and later the AC Locomotive Group. The locomotive is currently being restored to operational condition by the ACLG and Locomotive Services Ltd.
