Era 4 (1948 to 1956) British Railways Early Crest
Entering service as No. 59 ‘Cheam’ in October 1875 as one of Stroudley’s ‘A1’ Class ‘Terriers’, it was rebuilt to ‘A1X’ in December 1921 and two years later became No. 2659 under the Southern Railway. It was BR No. 32659 in 1948, before entering departmental stock as DS681 in 1953 and being withdrawn in 1963.
