History
Entering service as No. 59 ‘Cheam’ in October 1875 as one of Stroudley’s ‘A1’ Class ‘Terriers’, this locomotive was rebuilt to ‘A1X’ in December 1921. Two years later, it became No. 2659 under the Southern Railway. It was BR No. 32659 in 1948, before entering departmental stock as DS681 in 1953, and being withdrawn in 1963.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.
