Heljan Class 27 diesel locomotive, model D5349, is offered in the original British Rail green with the late crest. The model is built to OO gauge, measures 200 mm in length and has a Bo‑Bo wheel arrangement. It is fitted with NEM couplings, sprung buffers and all‑wheel power pickup, and includes directional lighting and working cab lamps.

The locomotive is DCC‑ready with an 8‑pin socket and can be fitted with a compatible decoder (e.g. RailConnect 8‑pin or RoS‑8HP). The exterior and interior cab details are faithfully reproduced, and the model carries the manufacturer part number 2725.

The prototype, built by Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Co. in Smethwick, entered service in 1961 and was withdrawn in 1987 after a career across the London Midland, North Eastern and Scottish regions, handling both freight and passenger traffic. The original Class 27 was powered by a 1 250 hp diesel engine and could achieve a top speed of 90 mph; a total of 68 units were produced.
