Manufacturer description

A more powerful development of Class 26 with a 1,250hp engine and four-character headcode panel in place of the old disc system. Initially distributed across the Midland, North Eastern and Scottish regions, from the late-1960s they were concentrated in Scotland and continued in passenger and freight service until 1987.

Heljan Class 27 030 model in British Rail blue with full yellow ends, built to OO gauge (1:76) and finished in a pristine condition. The locomotive is DCC ready with an 8‑pin socket, carries the running number 27029, and is fitted with NEM couplings and directional lighting. Power is collected from all wheels.

The model represents a British Rail Class 27 diesel, originally built by Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Co. between 1961 and 1962. It has a Bo‑Bo wheel arrangement, a maximum speed of 90 mph, and a minimum curve radius of 438 mm (2nd radius). The prototype was produced in a total of 69 units, served on the Midland, North Eastern and Scottish regions from 1961 to 1987, and was used for both freight and passenger traffic. The model measures 200 mm in length.

Features include working lights, sprung buffers, detailed exterior and cab interiors, and an 8‑pin DCC interface (compatible with RAILS CONNECT decoder RoS‑8D). No sound decoder is supplied; a blank ESU decoder and a re‑blowing service are required for sound fitting.
