The Dapol OO gauge model is a British Rail Class 52 "Western" diesel locomotive, presented in a maroon livery and finished in pristine condition. It carries the running number D1034 and is fitted with Digital Command Control (DCC), including a socket for an MTC 21‑pin decoder. The model represents the late‑crest period of British Railways and is built to the dimensions 275 mm long, 34 mm wide and 49 mm high, with a minimum curve radius of 2.

Technical specifications include a Co‑Co wheel arrangement with all‑wheel power pickup, NEM/tension‑lock couplings and metal‑sprung buffers. The locomotive is powered by a 5‑pole Super Creep motor with twin brass flywheels, providing controlled pulling power and very slow running speed. Directional lighting and cab lighting are supplied by a new printed circuit board.

The model features a detailed etched body with roof fan grilles, separately fitted handrails, cast wheels, and separately etched name and number plates. An alternate valance is supplied for negotiating tighter radius curves, and an accessory bag contains optional fitted components. Produced between 1961‑1964 at Swindon and Crewe Works, a total of 74 examples were built.
