73965 – GBRf, Current

73965 entered GBRf service in 2015 alongside 73964. This was completed alongside some of the Phase two locomotives and as such has some paint differences to the first three, notably the grilles and the area above the cab windows. Originally not named, this locomotive was given the name “Des o Brien” in memory of a GBRf colleague who passed away from Cancer. Notably the naming took place at the same time, on the opposite end of the train to former Accurascale Exclusive 66769 “Paul Taylor”. Our model represents the locomotive in its current condition with name, still carrying early “Brush” blue paint, cab front bracket and current GBRf branding.

Accurascale Class 73 model – GBRf (Current) – 73965 “Des O’Brien”, DCC sound fitted. Manufacturer part number ACC3336‑DCC. The model represents the locomotive as it appeared during the initial privatisation period.

The DCC system is motorised, includes a working fan and provides operational sound. Livery is the current GBRf corporate scheme and the class is identified as Class 73.

Locomotive 73965 entered GBRf service in 2015 together with unit 73964, alongside the Phase Two batch of locomotives. Compared with the first three units, it has subtle paint differences, notably in the grilles and the area above the cab windows. The locomotive was originally un‑named but was later named “Des O’Brien” in memory of a GBRf colleague who died of cancer, the naming occurring at the same time as the opposite‑end naming of former Accurascale exclusive 66769 “Paul Taylor”.

The model depicts the locomotive in its present condition, retaining the early “Brush” blue paint, the cab front bracket, the current GBRf branding and the name “Des O’Brien”.
