Prototype Era
Era 9 (1995 to 2004) Initial Privatisation
73962 – GBRf, Early
This loco started life as E6032 and entered service in May 1966. TOPS renumbering saw it become 73125 and then finally 73204 when it became part of the Gatwick express fleet. 73962 was unveiled to the (almost) public at the Wabtec/Brush open day in August 2014 carrying a one-off all over GBRF blue livery. It was named “Dick Mabbutt” in a Ceremony in memory of respected Brush Engineer of 40 years Richard Mabbutt who passed away unexpectedly in 2013. Our model recreates 73962 as it first entered service with GBRf adorned with full Europorte branding
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

Accurascale Class 73 - GBRf (Early) - 73962 Dick Mabbutt is a model railway locomotive offered in a motorised working fan configuration, suitable for DCC operation. It carries the GBRf livery and is supplied under the manufacturer part number ACC3325. The model represents the early privatisation era of British railways.
The prototype locomotive began life as British Rail E6032, entering service in May 1966. Following TOPS renumbering it became 73125 and later 73204 when assigned to the Gatwick Express fleet. In August 2014 the locomotive was displayed at a Wabtec/Brush open day in a one‑off all‑over GBRf blue livery and was subsequently named Dick Mabbutt in memory of Brush engineer Richard Mabbutt, who died in 2013.
This model depicts the locomotive as it first entered service with GBRf, featuring full Europorte branding as fitted to 73962. It is intended for collectors and operators wishing to portray the early privatisation period of the Class 73 fleet.
