73961 – GBRf, Current

73961 was the first 73/9 to enter traffic during 2014. The former E6026/73120/73209 had test runs at the Great Central Railway in Leicestershire during 2014 pairing with some interesting traction. The paint had weathered well but by 2024 it was looking rather work worn and as such became the first 73/9 to re-enter the paint shop, this time at Eastleigh and it received the slightly darker shade of blue which is used by GBRf currently. Our model represents the locomotive in current day condition with the addition of the bracket on the cab front for NR equipment

Accurascale Class 73 – GBRf (Current) – 73961 – Alison – DCC sound fitted

This DCC‑controlled model is a motorised working fan with a fitted sound decoder. It carries the GBRf livery and represents a British Rail Class 73 locomotive. The manufacturer part number is ACC3335‑DCC and the model depicts the locomotive as it appeared at the time of initial privatisation.

Locomotive 73961 was the first 73/9 to enter traffic in 2014. The previous unit, E6026/73120/73209, performed test runs on the Great Central Railway in Leicestershire during 2014, coupled with various traction types. By 2024 the original paint had become noticeably work‑worn, and the locomotive was sent to the Eastleigh paint shop for refurbishment, receiving the slightly darker shade of blue now used by GBRf.

The model shows the locomotive in its present‑day condition, including the bracket on the cab front for Network Rail equipment.
