Manufacturer description

73962 – GBRf, Early

This loco started life as E6032 and entered service in May 1966. TOPS renumbering saw it become 73125 and then finally 73204 when it became part of the Gatwick express fleet. 73962 was unveiled to the (almost) public at the Wabtec/Brush open day in August 2014 carrying a one-off all over GBRF blue livery. It was named “Dick Mabbutt” in a Ceremony in memory of respected Brush Engineer of 40 years Richard Mabbutt who passed away unexpectedly in 2013. Our model recreates 73962 as it first entered service with GBRf adorned with full Europorte branding

Accurascale Class 73 – GBRf (Early) – 73962 Dick Mabbutt – DCC Sound Fitted is a ready‑to‑run model of a British Rail Class 73 electro‑diesel locomotive. The kit is supplied with the manufacturer part number ACC3333‑DCC, is motorised, fitted with DCC sound, and carries a GBRf early‑privatisation livery with full Europorte branding.

The prototype locomotive began life as E6032 and entered service in May 1966. Under the TOPS renumbering system it was renumbered 73125 and later 73204 when it joined the Gatwick express fleet. The unit was later renumbered 73962 and was unveiled to the public at the Wabtec/Brush open day in August 2014 in a one‑off all‑over GBRf blue livery. It was subsequently named “Dick Mabbutt” in honour of the long‑serving Brush engineer Richard Mabbutt, who died unexpectedly in 2013.

This model depicts the locomotive as it first entered GBRf service, featuring the early GBRf livery and Europorte decals. It is designed for operation on DCC‑controlled layouts and includes sound samples corresponding to the original Class 73’s electric and diesel operations.
