Prototype Era
Era 3 (1923 to 1947) The Big Four (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR)
The earliest built Austerity in our launch range, this one was built by the Hunslet engine company, Leeds in Feb 1944, and numbered WD 75101. Acquired by the LNER in July 1946 and classified as J94, this locomotive was one of several to retain its desert sand livery with the addition of LNER numerals. At its first shopping date it would be repainted in the standard LNER black livery of the time. The locomotive would be passed to BR and renumbered 68008 before being finally withdrawn in December 1963. Our model represents a “standard” Austerity, with no modifications fitted.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

Here is a summary of the content in neutral, factual language:
Accurascale has released a new 0-6-0 Saddle Tank locomotive model, the Hunslet 'Austerity', which is available in DCC sound fitted format. The model represents a standard LNER version of the locomotive, numbered 8008, and is designed to represent the Big Four era (LNER, LMS, GWR, and SR).
The Accurascale model features a highly detailed cab interior, twin LED pulsing/steady firebox glow, and a powerful coreless motor with a flywheel for maximum performance and slow speed running. The model also includes a powerPack capacitor for uninterrupted power, two quality sugar cube speakers, and a die-cast metal chassis and pickups to all wheels.
The Hunslet Austerity is a real-life steam locomotive class that was built during World War II to meet the demand for heavy shunting locomotives. The class was designed by Hunslet locomotive works in Leeds and was built between 1943 and 1946. A total of 485 Austerities were built, with many surviving to the present day. The locomotives were originally built with a striking "desert sand" livery, but later changed to dark green.
The Austerity class was designed to be a reliable and simple locomotive that could operate in a variety of conditions, including heavy shunting and hauling trains on steep grades. The locomotives were used by various railways, including the LNER, NCB, and French and Dutch railways. Some Austerities were also used in preservation and were a popular choice for industrial railways.
The Accurascale model is based on the standard Austerity design, with no modifications fitted. The model is available with a range of features, including an etched metal/plastic detail parts, fully sprung metal buffers, and a magnetically removable smokebox door for DCC decoder access.
