Manufacturer description

New to the NCB in September 1954, 3823 was allocated to the North West division, initially at Walkden Railways in Lancashire. It was fitted with a Giesl ejector and underfeed stoker sometime in 1966 before transferring to Bickerhsaw Colliery in Leigh and allocated the rather catchy number 63/000/432. Here it worked until withdrawal in 1983 although for the last couple of years carried the unofficial name of “Fred” chalked on the tank sides, along with a “locally made” squared Giesl ejector. Warrior was sold into preservation in 1984 to the Dean Forest Railway but has not run yet.

Accurascale has released a 0-6-0 Saddle Tank model, the Hunslet 'Austerity' locomotive, in 00 gauge. This model is designed to represent the British Railways Late Crest period. The locomotive features a highly detailed cab interior, scale width wire handrails and sand pipes, and etched metal/plastic detail parts.

The model has a coreless motor with a flywheel and is geared for maximum performance and slow speed running. It is also equipped with a powerPack capacitor for uninterrupted power and features twin speakers and a flickering firebox light. The model is DCC ready and can be fitted with an ESU LokSound V5 sound module.

The Accurascale model is designed to be highly versatile, with the capability to represent various modifications made to the real-life locomotives. This includes the LNER modifications, NCB and Hunslet draughting changes, and preservation era modifications.

The Hunslet 'Austerity' locomotive was a popular design, with over 485 built and nearly 60 surviving to the present day.
