Prototype Era
Era 4 (1948 to 1956) British Railways Early Crest
This locomotive was one of a batch of 36 Austerities by Hudswell Clarke of Leeds. This particular one was completed in November 1944 and carried the WD number 71498. Purchased by the LNER in June 1946 the locomotive was classified as a J94 and numbered 8025. The distinctive extended bunker was fitted in November 1949 when it was renumbered 68025 and gained the early BR emblem. The locomotive was based at Darlington 51A until withdrawal in 1963. The locomotive did not survive and was cut up shortly after. The model replicates the period after 1949 and carries the extended bunker, smokebox numberplate and additional steps and handrails on the tank
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

Here is a summary of the content in neutral, factual language:
The Accurascale Hunslet 'Austerity' 0-6-0 Saddle Tank BR Black No.68025 is a model locomotive designed to represent the real-life locomotives built by Hunslet in the early 1940s. The model is built to a high level of detail and includes a coreless motor, die-cast metal chassis, and a stay alive power bank to ensure reliable operation on imperfect track.
The real-life locomotives, known as the Hunslet Austerity, were designed to be heavy-duty shunting locomotives that could handle trains of over 1000 tons on the level and 300 tons on a 1 in 50 grade. They were built in response to a Ministry of Supply requirement for a heavy shunting locomotive and were designed to be simple, yet powerful and reliable. A total of 485 were built, with 27 being sold to the Dutch State Railway, 11 to the Dutch State Mines, and 75 to the LNER, among others.
The locomotives were originally painted in a striking "desert sand" colour, but later changed to dark green. They were used in various locations, including Army depots and shunting yards, and were also used on industrial railways in the Netherlands, France, and North Africa. Some locomotives were modified with different blastpipe and chimney arrangements to improve efficiency, including the Giesl ejector multiple blast pipe arrangement and the Porta modified design.
The model locomotive is designed to be highly detailed, with etched metal and plastic parts, a fully detailed cab interior, and a pre-fitted DCC sound system. It is built to 1:76.2 scale on 16.5mm track and has a minimum radius of 438mm. The model is based on the period after 1949, with the extended bunker, smokebox numberplate, and additional steps and handrails on the tank.
The Hunslet Austerity locomotives were a significant part of the UK's industrial steam locomotive fleet, with many being preserved and still in operation today. The model locomotive is a representation of these iconic locomotives and is designed to provide a high level of detail and realism for model railway enthusiasts.
