Accurascale has released a pack of three 4-wheel banana vans in British Railways livery, representing the period from 1948 to 1961. The models are built to a scale length of 70mm over headstocks and have a wheelbase of 40mm, allowing them to operate on a minimum radius of 371mm.
The vans are built with a die-cast metal chassis and plastic body, and each one has its own unique number: S50869, S50840, and S50854. The models feature three different styles of wheel design, including split spoke, single spoke, and 3-hole disc. The wheels are OO gauge and are chemically blackened to a RP25.110 standard.
The models also feature eroded metal, plastic, and wire detail parts, including handrails, grab handles, door handles, lamp brackets, vacuum and steam pipes, and a steam heating cock and break gear. The buffers are turned metal and the couplers are NEM standard with narrow tension lock couplings. An accessory bag is included, containing steam/vacuum hoses and screw couplings.
The models are suitable for Era 3 and are accurate representations of the SR D1479 banana vans, which were built by the Southern Railway in 1935.
