SR Service Vehicle ex-D1478 Van - British Railways Departmental Service Van (post-1971) - Single Pac
Accurascale's SR D1478 Banana Van in original Southern Railway livery, as it appeared before 1936, is now available in a triple pack.
This model features three wagons, each with its own unique number: 50641, 50712, and 50720. They are depicted in SR stone livery, complete with SR standard brown sole bars and black ironwork, and prominent large SR branding.
The wagons are based on the D1478 pattern, with a body width of 32.583mm. They are designed for use in Era 3, which represents the Big Four period of British railway history, covering the LNER, LMS, GWR, and SR.
Key features of the model include a die-cast metal chassis and plastic body, weighing 60g per wagon, and a scale length of 70mm over the headstocks. The wheelbase is 40mm, allowing for operation on curves with a minimum radius of 371mm, equivalent to a Radius 1 set-track.
Each wagon features three different wheel designs: split-spoke, single-spoke, and 3-hole disc. The wheels are made from RP25.110 chemically blackened OO gauge metal and are paired with blackened brass bearings. The wagons also include turned metal buffers and NEM standard coupler pockets, with narrow tension lock couplers provided.
Additional details include eroded metal, plastic, and wire parts, such as handrails, grab handles, door handles, lamp brackets, vacuum and steam pipes, and a steam heating cock and brake gear. A selection of accessories, including steam/vacuum hoses and screw couplings, is included in a separate bag.
