Accurascale has released a set of three OO gauge wagon models, specifically the SR Mixed D1478/D1479 Banana Van, which represents the transitional period of British Railways from 1948 to 1950. The models are painted in BR bauxite livery.
The set includes wagons numbered 50886, 50899 and S50619, and each wagon has its own unique number. One of the wagons is depicted in SR Red Oxide livery with SR Standard Brown sole bar and black ironwork, and features small SR branding to the body corners and a small 's' prefix.
The models feature a die-cast metal chassis and a plastic body, with a scale length of 70mm over the headstocks and a wheelbase of 40mm. This allows the wagons to be operated on a minimum radius of 371mm, making them suitable for use on tight curves in model railway layouts.
The models are equipped with RP25.110 chemically blackened OO gauge wheel sets and blackened brass bearings conforming to Accurascale standards. The wagons also feature eroded metal, plastic and wire detail parts, including handrails, grab handles, door handles, lamp brackets, vacuum and steam pipes, and other components.
Turned sprung metal buffers are included, and the wagons have NEM standard coupler pockets, with narrow tension lock couplers also provided. The models feature individual lettering and codes from real wagons to add authenticity, and an accessory bag is included with steam/vacuum hoses and screw couplings.
