LNER Class J70 in BR livery with early emblem and full skirts
Rapido MR‑204 model of LNER Class J70 steam locomotive number 68226 is a limited‑edition OO gauge model, produced in a run of 500 units for Model Rail Magazine. The model is finished in a pristine black livery with British Railways early crest lettering and is supplied without side skirts.
The locomotive is fitted with a 6‑pin DCC socket, NEM couplings incorporating a tension‑lock, and direction‑dependent lighting. It runs on a coreless motor and includes provisions for sound modules. The minimum curve radius is 371 mm (1st radius). Other features include sprung buffers, two styles of central lamp iron, two nose‑end door‑catch designs, and optional cowcatchers with or without coupling apertures.
The prototype locomotive was built by the Great Eastern Railway at Stratford in March 1921, designed by James Holden, and entered service as GER class C53. It was withdrawn in August 1955 after 34 years of operation, having been transferred to British Railways and carrying the 0‑6‑0T wheel arrangement. The model represents the early British Railways period.
