Era 3 (1923 to 1947) The Big Four (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR)
The Adams Radial Tank was designed for the LSWR by William Adams, officially under the 415 class title. 71 of the class were built between 1882 and 1885 and while most were withdrawn by the end of the First World War the locomotive class was so suited to operation on the Lyme Regis branch that the locomotive would remain in service there until 1961. A sole member of the class survives into preservation. The Adams Radial is DCC Ready and comes with an NEM 8 pin socket in the Coal Bunker. The small size of the prototype means the space for decoders in quite limited. We recommend installing a direct fit chip such as the TCS DP2X-UK direct plug in 8 pin. This can be obtained from good model shops and also DCC Specialist retailers.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

Adams Radial East Kent With Wagons Anniversary Set
The Oxford Rail Adams Radial East Kent Railway Steam Locomotive is a model railway item produced by the Oxford Rail company. The model represents a locomotive from the London & South Western Railway's 415 class, specifically the East Kent Railway's number 5. The model is built to OO gauge and measures 152mm in length.
The locomotive features a green livery and is DCC ready with an 8 pin socket. It has a 5 pole skew wound motor and a geared drive for slow, prototypical operation. The model includes sprung buffers, a detailed cab interior, and a weighted chassis for improved pulling power. It also features NEM couplings and pick-ups on all wheels.
The Adams Radial locomotive was designed by William Adams in 1882, and a total of 71 were produced between 1882 and 1885. The locomotive had a 4-4-2T wheel arrangement and a large coal bunker, which required the addition of a trailing axle for support. The model represents a locomotive from the pre-grouping era, which ended in 1923.
The real Adams Radial locomotives were withdrawn from service in 1916, with only one surviving into preservation, number 488, which is now on display at the Bluebell Railway.
