Prototype Era
Era 5 (1956 to 1966) British Railways Late Crest

Manufacturer description

The Adams Radial Tank was designed for the LSWR by William Adams, officially under the 415 class title. 71 of the class were built between 1882 and 1885 and while most were withdrawn by the end of the First World War the locomotive class was so suited to operation on the Lyme Regis branch that the locomotive would remain in service there until 1961. A sole member of the class survives into preservation. The Adams Radial is DCC Ready and comes with an NEM 8 pin socket in the Coal Bunker. The small size of the prototype means the space for decoders in quite limited. We recommend installing a direct fit chip such as the TCS DP2X-UK direct plug in 8 pin. This can be obtained from good model shops and also DCC Specialist retailers.

The Oxford Rail OO gauge model of a London & South Western Railway 415 class 4-4-2T steam locomotive, numbered 30582, is a highly detailed representation of a locomotive from the British Railways Late Crest era. The model is built to a scale of 152mm in length and features a 5 pole skew wound motor for smooth and realistic operation.

The locomotive is designed to run on a minimum radius curve of 438mm and is DCC ready with an 8 pin socket. The model includes a number of authentic details, including sprung buffers, a detailed cab interior, and weighted chassis for added pulling power. The locomotive also features NEM couplings and pick-ups on all wheels.

The model is finished in lined black livery with a Late Crest and is part of the Oxford Rail product range. The locomotive is built to a high standard, with all over spray and precision printing adding to its realism. The model is suitable for modellers of the British Railways Late Crest era, specifically those who are looking to recreate the London & South Western Railway 415 class locomotives.

The real-life locomotives of this class were designed by William Adams in 1882 and were built between 1882 and 1885. A total of 71 locomotives were produced, but only one has survived into preservation, which is number 488 and is now on display at the Bluebell Railway.
