Manufacturer description

The Adams Radial Tank was designed for the LSWR by William Adams, officially under the 415 class title. 71 of the class were built between 1882 and 1885 and while most were withdrawn by the end of the First World War the locomotive class was so suited to operation on the Lyme Regis branch that the locomotive would remain in service there until 1961. A sole member of the class survives into preservation. The Adams Radial is DCC Ready and comes with an NEM 8 pin socket in the Coal Bunker. The small size of the prototype means the space for decoders in quite limited. We recommend installing a direct fit chip such as the TCS DP2X-UK direct plug in 8 pin. This can be obtained from good model shops and also DCC Specialist retailers. This locomotive celebrates 25 years of Oxford Diecast with a special edition box to match.

The Oxford 25 Years of Adams Radial Southern Late Locomotive 3520 is a model of a steam locomotive designed by William Adams for the London & South Western Railway. It is based on the 4-4-2 tank engine design, with a larger coal bunker that necessitated the addition of a trailing axle for support.

A total of 71 of these locomotives were produced between 1882 and 1885, with most remaining in service until their withdrawal began in 1916. Only one example, number 488, survived into preservation and is now on display at the Bluebell Railway.

The model features a 5-pole skew wound motor and is DCC ready with an 8-pin socket. It has geared slow prototypical operation, sprung buffers, and a detailed cab interior. The chassis is weighted for additional pulling power and the model comes with all-over spray with precision printing and NEM couplings. Pickups are fitted to all wheels.

The model measures 152mm in length and is suitable for OO gauge layouts. The recommended decoder for this model is the Gaugemaster DCC92.
