Manufacturer description

The British Rail Class 40 is a much-utilized British railway diesel-electric locomotive, that took over duties at the end of the steam era. A total of 200 were built by English Electric between 1958 and 1962. They were numbered D200-D399. They were for a time the pride of the British Rail early diesel fleet. Despite their initial success, by the time the last examples were entering service, they were already being replaced on some top-link duties by more powerful locomotives. As they were slowly relegated from express passenger uses, the type found work on secondary passenger and freight services where they worked for many years. The final locomotives ended regular service in 1985.

Thanks to their efforts and co-operation throughout this project, we have the preserved 40106, 40135 and 40145 available in the arsenal of incredible diesel electric locomotives.

KR Models Class 40 40145 BR Blue Diesel Locomotive is a model railway product representing a British Rail Class 40 locomotive in the original blue livery used before the TOPS renumbering system. The item carries the manufacturer part number KRM-40-OO-R-145 and includes interior lighting.

The real Class 40 locomotives were built by English Electric between 1958 and 1962, with a total of 200 units numbered D200 to D399. They entered service at the end of the steam era, were a prominent part of the early British Rail diesel fleet, and were gradually displaced from express passenger duties by more powerful engines. The class continued on secondary passenger and freight work until the final examples were withdrawn on 31/12/1985.

The model features etched grills, a cab light, a cast chassis and fine detailing. Production was carried out in consultation with the Class 40 Preservation Society, and the range includes preserved examples 40106, 40135 and 40145.
