Prototype Eras
Era 5 (1956 to 1966) British Railways Late Crest
Era 6 (1967 to 1972) British Rail Blue (Pre-TOPS)
The British Rail Class 40 is a much-utilized British railway diesel-electric locomotive, that took over duties at the end of the steam era. A total of 200 were built by English Electric between 1958 and 1962. They were numbered D200-D399. They were for a time the pride of the British Rail early diesel fleet. Despite their initial success, by the time the last examples were entering service, they were already being replaced on some top-link duties by more powerful locomotives. As they were slowly relegated from express passenger uses, the type found work on secondary passenger and freight services where they worked for many years. The final locomotives ended regular service in 1985.
We have been working closely with the Class 40 Preservation Society to bring you the most up-to-date and accurate model of the Whistler that is possible. Thanks to their efforts and co-operation throughout this project, we have the preserved 40106, 40135 and 40145 available in the arsenal of incredible diesel electric locomotives.

KR Models Class 40 D326 (GTR) Diesel Locomotive is a scale model of a British Railways Class 40, representing the “Late Crest” period of British Rail. The model carries the manufacturer part number KRM-40-OO-R-D326 and includes interior lighting.
The prototype locomotive was built by English Electric between 1958 and 1962, with 200 examples numbered D200 to D399. Initially employed on express passenger duties, the class was later reallocated to secondary passenger and freight work, and the final units were withdrawn from regular service in 1985.
Key features of the model include etched grills, a cab light, a cast chassis, and fine detailing. The design has been developed in collaboration with the Class 40 Preservation Society, allowing the inclusion of liveries for preserved examples 40106, 40135 and 40145.
