Heljan’s OO gauge model of the LMS/BR Beyer‑Garratt 2‑6‑0 0‑6‑2 (running number 47971) is finished in weathered British Railways plain black, without the BR emblem, and incorporates a revolving coal bunker. The locomotive is 350 mm long, runs on driving‑wheel power pickup only and is fitted with NEM couplings, sprung buffers and directional lighting. It is DCC ready with an 8‑pin socket and uses a 2nd radius minimum curve of 438 mm.

The prototype was built by Beyer, Peacock & Co. at Gorton Works between 1927 and 1930, with a total production of six examples. Designed to replace pairs of Midland 0‑6‑0s on heavy coal drags between the East Midlands and London, the Garratts also handled iron‑stone traffic and operated as far north as York and Peterborough until they were superseded by BR Standard ‘9F’ 2‑10‑0s in the late 1950s.

Key specifications for the model include a gauge of OO, a British date format for the service career (1927‑1958), and the manufacturer part number 266221. The model was supplied by Hatton’s Model Railways and represents the early BR crest era.
