Manufacturer description

Designed to replace pairs of Midland 0-6-0s on heavy coal drags between the East Midlands and London, these huge articulated machines were also used on ironstone traffic and travelled as far afield as York and Peterborough until they were replaced by new BR Standard '9F' 2-10-0s in the late 1950s. This model produced courtesy of Hatton's Model Railways.

Heljan model of LMS black Beyer‑Garratt locomotive number 4993, in OO gauge. The model is finished in pristine condition, features an 8‑pin DCC socket (DCC ready), NEM couplings, sprung buffers and detailed exterior and cab fittings. It runs on the driving wheels only and has a minimum curve radius of 438 mm (2nd radius). The locomotive is represented in the period of the Big Four (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR) and carries the manufacturer part number 266213.

The prototype was built by Beyer, Peacock & Co. between 1927 and 1930, with a total production run of six units for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway. It was a 2‑6‑0 articulated locomotive designed to replace pairs of Midland 0‑6‑0s on heavy coal drags between the East Midlands and London, also handling ironstone traffic to York and Peterborough until its withdrawal in the late 1950s when it was superseded by BR Standard “9F” 2‑10‑0s.
