Manufacturer description

The series of models being manufactured by Dapol are to the later Churchward build from numbers 5390 through to 7321, constructed between 1920 and 1923 with the final eight (6362-6369) in 1925 under Collett. These Collett locomotives had outside cylinder steam pipes fitted from new, whilst this feature was added to the majority of the earlier batch from the late 1940’s to the early 1950’s. The last to be withdrawn was 6395 in November 1964.

FEATURES

MODEL
Many original GA drawings were used in the development of these accurate and authentic models. The locomotive has a diecast chassis with a five pole motor driving the rear wheels. To add compensation the centre driving wheels are sprung, the front pony truck is also sprung and operates on a cam so the model will negotiate R2 curves with ease.

Dapol GWR Mogul 2‑6‑0 locomotive in green, model number 7301, is a OO gauge replica built to a pristine finish. It carries the Great Western Railway and British Railways smoke‑box number plate and is DCC ready via a slide‑in NEXT‑18 decoder socket. The model measures 240 mm long, 34 mm wide and 48 mm high, with a minimum curve radius of 438 mm (2nd radius).

The locomotive is powered by a five‑pole motor driving the rear wheels, with sprung centre driving wheels and a sprung front pony truck that uses a cam for smooth negotiation of R2 curves. Electrical pickup is provided on all driving wheels and on all tender wheels, with a push‑fit coupling that incorporates reliable contacts, eliminating wired plugs. An optional reflex speaker can be fitted in the tender, and a built‑in audio filter ensures suitable frequency response.

The model represents a Great Western Railway 4300 class locomotive designed by George Churchward and built at Swindon Works between 1911 and 1932, of which 342 were produced in reality. It reflects the Big Four era (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR) and bears features such as Churchward taper buffers, Collett straight‑shank buffers, interchangeable smoke‑box configurations with or without cylinder steam pipes, and the appropriate vacuum pipe and safety‑valve cover for the chosen period.

Key specifications: green GWR & BR livery, era 3 (1923‑1947), wheel arrangement 2‑6‑0, track supply 12 V DC, DCC ready, pristine finish, and a standard Churchward 3 500‑gallon tender.
