20 ton mineral wagons of a steel riveted construction were used nationally, transporting coal and minerals offering a more efficient and cost effective method of conveyance than had previously been possible with wooden bodied 10 and 12 ton open top wagons.

They came into service in the 1920s and were finally withdrawn in the 1970s. The wagons had two doors per side and an end door.

Model details

The Dapol Emlyn Anthracite 20 Ton Steel Mineral Wagon is a model of a 20 ton mineral wagon of steel riveted construction. The model depicts a wagon that was used for the transportation of coal and minerals, offering a more efficient and cost-effective method of conveyance than earlier wooden bodied wagons.

The real-life wagons were introduced in the 1920s and remained in service until the 1970s. They featured two doors per side and an end door.

The model is available in a weathered finish, representing the worn and faded appearance of a well-used wagon. It is designed for use on OO gauge layouts and has a minimum radius curve requirement of Radius 1.

The model features include highly detailed body and chassis moulding, superbly printed livery and details, and a complete coal or coking coal load. The wagon also includes NEM pockets with self-centring couplings, allowing for smooth and secure coupling and uncoupling.

The model measures 97mm in length, 33mm in width, and 36mm in height.
