Manufacturer description
Seen as very much the ‘missing link’ in the ‘Powering Britain’ range, the 16 ton mineral wagon is an essential addition to the Accurascale range to tell the story of coal traffic on the railways throughout the 20th century. The archetypal BR 16 ton all-steel non-hoppered mineral wagon proliferated across the United Kingdom’s railway network during the 1950s and 1960s and there was probably not a siding, freight yard or industrial railway system in the country that did not house at least an example or three of these vitally important, yet mundane railway vehicles.

Accurascale BR 16T Mineral – POO – ICI Mond Division Blue/Red – Pack P is a model of the British Rail 16‑ton all‑steel mineral wagon, produced in the internal user livery. The item carries the manufacturer part number ACC1063‑EXL and represents the British Rail Blue (TOPS) period of the mid‑20th century.

The wagon was a non‑hoppered, all‑steel vehicle that entered widespread use on the United Kingdom’s rail network during the 1950s and 1960s. It formed a common sight on sidings, freight yards and industrial railway systems, where several examples were typically present.

Accurascale includes the 16 ton mineral wagon as a key component of its “Powering Britain” range, offering a realistic representation of the freight traffic that transported coal and other bulk minerals throughout the latter half of the 20th century.
