Manufacturer description
Rails of Sheffield ExclusivePrototype info
The Kerr Stuart âVictoryâ locomotives were a class of 10 0-6-0t sourced by the Inland Waterways and Docks Department in 1917. Most saw service at various southern ports before being sold into industry after hostilities ended. Six examples went directly into colliery service, two to the Alexandra Docks Railway, one to the Brecon and Merthyr and one to Colonel Stephens's East Kent (also a coal hauler). A number survived in industrial service into the late 1960s, none were preserved.

Planet Industrials Custom Weathered Kerr, Stuart âVictoryâ 0â6â0T Locomotive in Black âRODâ NoâŻ608 is a limitedâedition model released under the Rails of Sheffield range. It is offered as a readyâtoârun, 1:76 scale â00â gauge model with a weathered finish and carries the manufacturer part number PIâ001âEW. The model represents a preâgrouping Kerr, Stuart âVictoryâ locomotive, one of ten 0â6â0T engines built in 1917 for the Inland Waterways and Docks Department and later used in various southern ports and industrial settings. None of the original locomotives were preserved.
The locomotive is powered by a highâtorque flywheelâdriven motor with a 40:1 precision gearbox, supplying sixâwheel electrical pickup and a NEXT18 DCC interface (DCCâŻ18). It rides on darkened RP25â110 profile wheels and a dieâcast metal chassis, and it can safely negotiate a minimum R2 curve. Detailed features include a fully modelled cab, sprung buffers, NEM coupler pockets at the correct height, optional front steps and toolâboxes, and etched works plates showing all ten works numbers.
Construction comprises over 200 individual components, an injectionâmoulded body, fineâscale wheels and a sixâwheel electrical pickup system. The model is DCC ready via the NEXT18 interface and is supplied as a readyâtoârun unit. It is intended for collectors and railway enthusiasts seeking an accurate representation of this historic industrial locomotive.
