Planet Industrials Kerr, Stuart ‘Victory’ 0‑6‑0T locomotive in lined maroon is a limited‑edition model released as part of the Rails of Sheffield range. It is supplied ready‑to‑run, carries the manufacturer part number PI‑001‑D and is DCC ready (NEXT18 interface, DCC 18). The model is scaled at 1:76 for 00 gauge track and represents locomotives from the era of the Big Four railway companies (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR).
The prototype class comprised ten 0‑6‑0T engines built for the Inland Waterways and Docks Department in 1917. After World War One the locomotives served at various southern ports before entering industrial use; six worked in collieries, two joined the Alexandra Docks Railway, one served the Brecon and Merthyr, and one operated on Colonel Stephens’ East Kent line. A number remained in industrial service into the late 1960s, but none were preserved.
The model features an injection‑moulded body with over 200 individual components and a die‑cast metal chassis. It rides on darkened RP25‑110 profile wheels with a six‑wheel electrical pickup, and is driven by a high‑torque flywheel motor linked to the rear axle via a 40:1 precision gearbox for smooth, slow running. The locomotive can negotiate a minimum radius of R2 curve, includes sprung buffers, NEM coupler pockets at the correct height and a fully detailed cab. An etched works plate bears all ten original works numbers, and optional extras such as front steps and toolboxes are available.
