Planet Industrials Kerr Stuart ‘Victory’ 0‑6‑0T locomotive is offered in a limited edition called Rails of Sheffield. The model carries DCC status DCC 18, manufacturer part number PI‑001‑A and represents the period of the Big Four railway companies (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR).
The original ‘Victory’ class comprised ten 0‑6‑0T tank engines built for the Inland Waterways and Docks Department in 1917. After World War I the locomotives worked at several southern ports before being sold to industrial users; six entered colliery service, two joined the Alexandra Docks Railway, one went to the Brecon and Merthyr Railway and one to Colonel Stephens’s East Kent line. A few survived in industrial use into the late 1960s, but none were preserved.
The 1:76 scale ‘00’ gauge model includes an injection‑moulded ready‑to‑run body with over 200 individual components, a die‑cast metal chassis, fine‑scale RP25‑110 wheels and a six‑wheel electrical pickup. Power is supplied by a high‑torque flywheel‑driven motor driving the rear axle through a 40:1 precision gearbox, allowing slow, smooth running and negotiation of a minimum R2 curve. The model is DCC ready with a NEXT18 interface, features full cab detail, sprung buffers, NEM coupler pockets at the correct height, optional front steps and tool‑boxes, and etched works plates showing all ten works numbers.
