The coach measures 303 mm in length, is coloured red and silver, and carries the running number 42158. The real British Railways Mark 3 coach entered service between 1975 and 1988 and was used on both high‑speed and locomotive‑hauled services across the UK main line network. Designed by BREL, the Mark 3 became a common sight on British railways, noted for its modern construction and passenger comfort.

When Virgin Trains East Coast lost the East Coast Main Line franchise, the London North Eastern Railway (LNER) brand was reinstated, with the first LNER‑branded service running from King’s Cross to Edinburgh on 25 June 2018. This model reflects that contemporary LNER operation.
