Manufacturer description

The BR Standard Mk.3 coach was introduced to traffic between 1975 and 1988 on both high speed and locomotive hauled services and quickly became a regular sight on Britain's main line services.

In 2014, First Great Western refurbished its Mk.3 first class carriages with interiors that dropped the First Great Western branding in favour of a new GWR logo and the whole company was subsequently rebranded as Great Western Railway (GWR) on 20 September 2015, with rolling stock featuring a dark green livery that echoed that of the former Great Western Railway.

Hornby is proud to be presenting this rebranded and revolutionized coach. Each model measures 303mm in length and will look fantastic in any railway landscape.

Hornby GWR Mk3 Trailer Standard (Disabled) Coach C, running number 42015, is an OO gauge model in a pristine finish. It measures 303 mm in length, is painted in GWR green, and has a minimum radius curve of Radius 2. The coach is classified as a Trailer Standard Disabled (TSD) and represents the current era. It carries the manufacturer part number R4912 and was designed by BREL.

The real British Rail Mark 3 coach entered service between 1975 and 1988 on both high‑speed and locomotive‑hauled main‑line trains, becoming a common sight on Britain’s rail network. In 2014 First Great Western refurbished its Mk 3 first‑class carriages, removing its own branding in favour of a new GWR logo. The company was rebranded as Great Western Railway on 20 September 2015, and the rolling stock was repainted in a dark green livery reminiscent of the historic Great Western Railway.

This Hornby model reproduces the rebranded coach in the same dark green livery, providing a detailed and accurate addition to any OO gauge railway layout.
