Prototype Era
Era 9 (1995 to 2004) Initial Privatisation
Built by Brush, this locomotive started life as D1757 in September 1964 at Cardiff Canton, and under TOPS became 47163 in 1974.
It received various modifications between 1976 and 1979 and was reclassified as a 47/4 and renumbered 47610 in April 1984. It was renumbered again in April 1989, when it became a 47/8 and was given the number 47823, before becoming 47787 as part of the EWS fleet and being named ‘Windsor Castle’. Previously, it had carried the names ‘SS Great Britain' and ‘Victim Support’. It became part of the West Coast Railways operation at Carnforth in February 2007.
Our Class 47 RailRoad model faithfully depicts this locomotive in its EWS form, with added features for enhanced durability and a pre-fitted sound chip for authentic railway sounds.

Hornby RailRoad model of the EWS Class 47 locomotive, numbered 47787 and named “Windsor Castle”, is supplied with the manufacturer part number R30541TXS. The model represents the locomotive as it appeared during the initial privatisation period.
The real locomotive was built by Brush and entered service as D1757 at Cardiff Canton in September 1964. It became 47163 under TOPS in 1974, was re‑classified as a 47/4 and renumbered 47610 in April 1984, changed to a 47/8 as 47823 in April 1989, and later received the number 47787 when acquired by EWS. It has previously carried the names “SS Great Britain” and “Victim Support”, and joined the West Coast Railways operation at Carnforth in February 2007.
The Hornby RailRoad model reproduces the locomotive in its EWS livery, incorporates a pre‑fitted sound chip for authentic railway noises, and includes durability‑enhancing features for robust operation.
