Manufacturer description

Class 47/7 locomotives are a modification of Class 47/4 locomotives, being fitted with long range fuel tanks and new cabling to work with Propelling Control Vehicles (PCV) on mail carrying services. In December 2017, GBRf purchased three Class 47/7 locomotives from Colas Railfreight; 47727, 47739 and 47749, as all were excess to Colas' requirements.

Two of the locomotives, 47739 and 47749, were repainted by Arlington Fleet Services at Eastleigh, before moving to Leicester while 47727 continued in service with the Caledonian Sleeper, having been on long term hire to GBRf anyway.
