Heljan’s Metropolitan Bo‑Bo electric locomotive model represents unit number 6, named William Penn, in the Metropolitan Railway’s traditional livery. The model is finished in a pristine condition and is supplied with an NEM coupler.
The locomotive is DCC ready, fitting a 21‑pin socket, and runs on OO gauge track. It features directional lighting, power pick‑up via all wheels, and a Bo‑Bo wheel arrangement. The minimum curve it can negotiate is the second radius (438 mm). It is capable of a top speed of 65 mph and operates using electric motive power.
The prototype was built by Metropolitan‑Vickers between 1922 and 1923, with a total production run of 20 units. It served the Metropolitan Railway and is representative of the period known as the “Big Four” (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR). The model’s manufacturer part number is 9006.
