Heljan produce a 4 mm scale (OO gauge) model of British Rail Class 23 "Baby Deltic" diesel locomotive, carrying the running number D5909. The model is finished in British Rail blue with large yellow ends, and is presented in a weathered condition.
The locomotive is DCC ready with an 8‑pin socket, features all‑wheel power pickup and NEM / tension lock couplings. It runs on a minimum radius curve of 438 mm (second radius) and is capable of a maximum speed of 75 mph. The wheel arrangement is Bo‑Bo and the locomotive is powered by diesel.
The prototype was built by English Electric at Vulcan Foundry in 1959, with a total production run of ten units. The model carries manufacturer part number 2307 and represents the British Rail blue (pre‑TOPS) period.
