Heljan Class 23 Baby Deltic model D5900 is a OO‑scale replica of the British Rail Class 23 diesel locomotive, painted in British Rail green with a late crest, small yellow side panels and headcode boxes. The model carries the running number D5900 and is supplied in a pristine finish.
The locomotive is DCC ready, featuring an 8‑pin socket and power pick‑up via all wheels. It uses NEM couplings with a tension‑lock system and has a minimum curve radius of the second radius (438 mm). The wheel arrangement is Bo‑Bo and the maximum speed is listed as 75 mph. The model carries the manufacturer part number 2300.
The real Class 23 was built by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry in 1959, with a total production run of ten units. The Heljan model represents the British Railways late‑crest period of this diesel locomotive class.
