Manufacturer description

Prior to the standardisation of wagon design by the RCH in 1923 there were many variants available, depending on builder and region. Indeed, the standardisation of wagons was not universally adopted and took many years to gain acceptance and in this time variations were common and worked side by side with the standard design.

One of the variations that were often seen was the 7 Plank internally braced design. This had a shorter wheelbase (9 foot) than the standard design, had no end doors and had a capacity of 10 tons.

Dapol's 7 Plank Wagon model represents a variation of the 7 Plank internally braced design that was common prior to the standardisation of wagon design by the Railway Clearing House in 1923. This particular model features a 9ft wheelbase, as opposed to the standard design, and is a representation of wagons built by various companies during the Big Four era.

The model is a highly detailed representation of a 7 Plank Wagon, complete with a finely moulded body and accurately applied livery. It is supplied with a coal load and features profiled wheels.

Key measurements for the model include a length of 74mm, a width of 33mm, and a height of 35mm, making it suitable for use on a minimum radius curve of 1.
