Accurascale has released a set of three OO gauge models depicting the Class 3 CDA China Clay wagons in ECC blue livery, debranded. These models are designed to replicate the vehicles built by BREL at Doncaster between 1987 and 1989, during the initial period of privatisation.

The models feature a wealth of detail, including a die-cast chassis, brass bearings, and 26mm pinpoint axles, ensuring smooth running and excellent performance. The models also accurately depict the differences between the CDA wagons and their HAA counterparts, including the equipment at the wagon end, holes in the bodyside, underframe, and hood/canopy.

The models are designed to be highly detailed, with features such as rivets, framing, strapping, and accurately profiled door 'horns'. They also include RP25-110 profile OO gauge wheels with separate brake blocks in line with tread, sprung metal buffers, and dummy instanter couplings. Additionally, the models feature super fine plastic parts, including air pipes, lamp irons, safety catches, clasp and disc brakes, hopper door operating equipment, and etched metal details such as brake levers and chassis plates.

The models are suitable for use on a minimum radius curve of 438mm, and weigh 40g. They feature removable Kinetic NEM coupler mounts at the correct height, with mini-tension-lock couplers and scale instanter couplings included. The models also accurately depict the individual differences between wagon types, including the two styles of hopper door, 'X' pattern on coal variants and 'straight beam' pattern on CDA.
