Prototype information

Accurascale has released a set of three OO gauge, 1:76.2 scale China Clay wagons in ECC Blue livery, known as Pack E. These models are designed to represent the CDA wagons built by BREL at Doncaster between 1987 and 1989.

The models feature a diecast chassis, brass bearings, and 26mm pinpoint axles for smooth running performance. The level of detail is high, with attention paid to the differences between these wagons and the traditional HAA type, including the equipment at the wagon end, holes in the bodyside on one side, the underframe, and the hood/canopy.

The model specification includes a detailed interior with rivets, framing, strapping, and accurately profiled door 'horns'. The wheels are of the RP25-110 profile, with separate brake blocks in line with the tread, and sprung metal buffers and dummy instanter couplings are also included. The model features a number of etched metal details, including a brake lever, chassis plates, and other components.

The wagons are designed to be highly detailed and accurate, with numerous individual differences between wagon types, including two styles of hopper door. The CDA wagons feature a large end air cylinder and above solebar mounted brake distributor, end ventilator boxes, a highly detailed roof with textured canvas cover, and chassis mounted operating handles. The models are designed for use on a minimum radius of 438mm, making them suitable for use on many layouts.
