Manufacturer description

LNER J69 No. 359 came from an earlier batch of ten locomotives built at Stratford in 1892 and was rebuilt in 1904 into the R24r Class, gaining new safety valves, a new boiler design and 1180 gallon side tanks, but retaining the original narrow cab and coal bunker. No. 359 is portrayed in the earliest 1923 version of the LNER livery of Black with Red Lining, with fully shaded L&NER initials.

Accurascale has released a model of the LNER Class J69 'Buckjumper' locomotive, specifically J69 No. 359 in LNER Lined Black livery. The model features an accurate representation of the locomotive's appearance, including the fully shaded L&NER initials and red lining.

The model is designed for operation on minimum radius curves of 438mm, or 2nd radius set-track, and is equipped with die-cast metal chassis and boiler, weighing in the region of 260-275g. The model features a range of details, including a fully detailed cab area, moveable roof ventilator, and eroded metal/plastic detail parts.

The locomotive is DCC ready, with all wheel pickup and a stay alive arrangement, and is also available with a factory-installed DCC sound option. The sound system features two sugarcube speakers located in the side tanks, providing a high-quality sound experience. The model is also equipped with a large coreless motor, capable of hauling a load of not less than 1kg up a 3% incline.

The model meets the NEM standards for coupling, with a small, flexible neck coupler mount and mini-tension-lock couplers. The model is powered by a helical gearbox, which provides maximum performance and slow speed running capabilities, allowing the locomotive to achieve a scale maximum top speed of 50mph.
