Manufacturer description

S56 Class No. 84 was one of the last batch of ten locomotives built for the Great Eastern Railway, to Order P57, at Stratford in 1904 and incorporated many of the improvements made to the R24 Class in the 1902 Improvement Programme. No.84 is portrayed in the classic GER livery of Ultramarine Blue with Vermillion lining and shaded lettering, as it operated from Stratford Shed until being repainted into the GER’s ‘austerity’ grey livery in 1915.

Accurascale has released a model of the GER Class J67 'Buckjumper' locomotive, No.84, in GER Ultramarine Blue livery. This model represents the locomotive as it was during the pre-grouping period.

The model is built to a scale length of 110.66mm over the headstocks and 36mm across the body, allowing for operation on a minimum radius of 438mm. The chassis and boiler are made from die-cast metal, with a target weight of 260g-275g. The locomotive features a die-cast metal chassis and boiler, and is DCC ready with all wheel pickup and a stay alive arrangement.

The model includes a range of detailed features, including scale width wire handrails and sand pipes, a fully detailed cab area with a removable roof, and a moveable roof ventilator. The bunker area is also fully detailed, with eroded metal and plastic parts used to create a realistic appearance.

The model is available with a factory-installed DCC sound option, which includes two quality sugarcube speakers contained in sound capsules. The locomotive is also fitted with a large coreless motor, which provides a haulage capacity of not less than 1kg from a standing start on a 3% incline. The model features helical gearing for maximum performance and slow speed running, and is capable of achieving a scale maximum top speed of 50 mph.
