Prototype Eras
Era 2 (1875 to 1923) Pre-grouping
Era 3 (1923 to 1947) The Big Four (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR)
The Dean Goods was the workhorse of the GWR goods department from 1883 until the twilight of the Steam era. The final locomotive was withdrawn in 1957. The class had become the standard locos for the lightly built and winding Welsh lines by their withdrawal.
Serving both at home and abroad during two World Wars, the 0-6-0 Tender loco epitomises locomotive practice under William Dean.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

GWR Dean Goods Class 0-6-0 No.2516 Weathered
The Oxford Rail OO gauge model of GWR Unlined Green Dean Goods 0-6-0 steam locomotive No. 2475 is a highly detailed representation of a locomotive class that was built between 1883 and 1899. The model is designed to replicate the appearance of a locomotive in pristine condition, with a green livery and a 5 pole skew wound motor.
The model features a wheel arrangement of 0-6-0 and is designed for use on 2nd radius curves of 438mm or greater. It is built to a scale of 1:76 and is suitable for use with the Great Western Railway's Dean Goods class. The model is also DCC ready, with an 8-pin socket, and is compatible with a range of decoders, including the ESU Loksound GWR group one S0161-8.
The Dean Goods class was a popular design by William Dean, the Chief Mechanical Engineer of the Great Western Railway, and 260 locomotives of this class were built during the period 1883-1899. The model is part of the Oxford Rail range and is designed to represent the locomotives in their pre-grouping era.
