Era 8 (1983 to 1994) British Rail Sectorisation
This heavyweight Type 4 proved its worth hauling everything from named expresses to unfitted mineral trains. Closely associated with the Midland Main Line and cross-country routes, the class could be seen over a wide area from central Scotland to the west of Cornwall. A huge range of detail variations has been designed into the model, allowing accurate depictions of specific Class 45/0s and 45/1s for the first time.
Following the incredible reaction to the initial batch of ā45sā, a second production run is now being prepared for release in 2023.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

The Heljan Class 45/1 diesel locomotive in BR Blue livery, model number 97409 'Lytham St Annes', is a detailed representation of a British Rail locomotive from the 1960s. This model is part of a series that aims to capture the variations within the Class 45 family, including differences in livery, sub-class, and individual locomotives.
The model is a weathered representation of a Class 45/1 locomotive, built between 1960 and 1962 at Derby and Crewe Works. It features a 1Co-Co-1 wheel arrangement and is designed to be DCC ready, with a 21-pin socket and ample provision for sound installation. The model includes LED lighting, separately switched cab and tail lights, and NEM coupler pockets as part of the bufferbeams.
The manufacturer has incorporated research and development from their previous 'O' gauge Class 45 model, resulting in fine details such as open or plated boiler steps, bodyside grilles, and roof hatches. The model is suitable for representing a British Rail locomotive in the TOPS era, with a wide range of variations available to reflect the numerous differences within the Class 45 class.
