Prototype Era
Era 7 (1972 to 1982) British Rail Blue (TOPS)
This heavyweight Type 4 proved its worth hauling everything from named expresses to unfitted mineral trains. Closely associated with the Midland Main Line and cross-country routes, the class could be seen over a wide area from central Scotland to the west of Cornwall. A huge range of detail variations has been designed into the model, allowing accurate depictions of specific Class 45/0s and 45/1s for the first time.
Following the incredible reaction to the initial batch of ā45sā, a second production run is now being prepared for release in 2023.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

The Heljan Class 45/0 45055 'Royal Corps of Transport' is a model of a British Railways diesel locomotive. This model, part of a batch of Class 45s, is designed to depict locomotives from the 1960s. The model has a blue livery with red bufferbeams and features a 1Co-Co-1 wheel arrangement. It is DCC ready, with a 21-pin socket, and includes interior lighting.
The Class 45 is a well-known class of locomotives, with many variations in detail across the class. This model reflects this, with a range of authentic details depending on the period, livery, and sub-class of the locomotive. Features include open or plated boiler steps, roof hatches, and bodyside grilles.
The model has a number of features, including a smooth running motor and flywheel, a 21-pin DCC interface, and NEM coupler pockets. The locomotive also has working lights, sprung buffers, and provision for DCC sound installation. The cab and tail lights are separately switched, allowing for greater control over lighting effects.
