Heljan Class 17 Clayton D8534 is a OO‑scale model of the British Rail Class 17 diesel locomotive in BR blue livery with full yellow ends. The locomotive is fitted with a DCC sound system and an 8‑pin socket for decoder installation.

The model measures 220 mm in length, rides on all wheels for power pickup and uses NEM couplings with a tension lock. It can negotiate a minimum radius of 371 mm (first radius), features directional lighting and a maximum speed of 60 mph when operated. The decoder compatible with this model is the Gaugemaster DCC92; a fitting service (including decoder cost) is available via the DCCFIT8 link. Note that sound fitting is not offered due to space constraints.

The prototype was built by Clayton/Beyer Peacock between 1962 and 1965, with a total of 117 units produced (number series D8500–D8616). They served British Rail from 1962 to 1971, later being used in industrial service until 1982, primarily in Scottish, Eastern and North Eastern regions for light goods and passenger work. The class was withdrawn after less than a decade because the twin‑engine design proved unreliable. As of 2018 only one example (D8568) remains preserved.
