Dapol Turbot Bogie Ballast Wagon (EWS livery, No. 978105) is a 00 gauge model designed to represent the early period of railway privatisation. The kit measures 82 mm long, 33 mm wide and 28 mm high, and is suitable for a minimum radius of 2 (438 mm or 17¼ in). It features a plastic body and underframe, a die‑cast chassis, spring buffers, profile‑blacked wheels to OO Gauge Society standard, pin‑point axles and UK standard hook‑and‑bar couplers, with optional NEM couplings.

The body is fully detailed with separately moulded side doors and stanchions, interior floor and door fittings, door balance springs, stainless‑steel etchings, handrails, end steps and lamp brackets. The underframe includes correctly profiled bracing and highly detailed bogies. The accessory pack contains buffer‑beam pipes, an operating “Instanter” coupling and a NEM‑compatible drawbar as an optional replacement for the standard coupling.
