The Brush Class 60 was the last stand of the British designed and built diesel electric locomotive. From concept to delivery in little over 18 months the construction of this 100 strong class was nothing short of impressive.
Designed as a heavy freight locomotive rather than a mixed traffic type, they soon went to work on a variety of trains for the Coal, Petroleum, Aggregate and Metals sectors. All 100 locomotives passed through the shadow franchises before coming under the ownership of EWS in 1996. Reliable, efficient and powerful, they made a name for themselves hauling the heaviest of trains across the country.
Following a low point with many stored with high engine hours, there is a resurgence happening with the likes of DCR and GBRF who are utilising their fleets of class 60’s for what they were built for.
The Accurascale class 60 is the product of many years of careful research and constructed using data from 3D scans, surveys and original Brush drawings. We have been very lucky to be able to draw on the experience and knowledge from people who worked on the commissioning of Class 60 right through to those who overhaul them in the present day.
This access has allowed us to develop the most comprehensive suite of tooling to produce the ultimate class 60.
Our model has an impressive 825g of weight to allow the powerful 5-pole motor and all-wheel drive to haul the very heaviest of trains, just like the real thing. A complex lighting suite (including radiator room and control desk lighting) and Accurathrash speaker completes the package.

Accurascale's Class 60 60015 'Bow Fell' Transrail Grey Diesel Locomotive is a highly detailed and accurate model of the iconic British diesel-electric locomotive. The model is designed to represent the locomotive in its initial privatisation period, a time when the Class 60 was a staple of the UK's rail network.

The Class 60 was the final British-designed and built diesel-electric locomotive, with 100 units constructed over an impressive 18 month period. The locomotives were designed to haul heavy freight trains in the coal, petroleum, aggregate and metals sectors, and quickly made a name for themselves as reliable and efficient powerhouses.

The Accurascale model is the result of extensive research and consultation with industry experts, including those who worked on the commissioning and maintenance of the real Class 60 locomotives. The model features a comprehensive suite of tooling, including a heavy weight of 825g, a 5-pole motor and all-wheel drive, allowing it to haul heavy loads with ease.

The model also boasts a complex lighting suite, including interior lighting and a speaker system for an authentic sound experience. The DCC sound version of the model features a high-quality speaker and a hall sensor for a realistic flange squeal effect.

Key features of the model include a die-cast metal chassis, separately applied etched metal and plastic detail parts, and a full underframe tank with compressor detail. The model also includes a snow plough and buffer beam pipework, as well as kinetic NEM coupler mounts and a lift-off roof panel for easy access to the decoder and light switches.

The model is DCC ready, with a powerpack capacitor for uninterrupted power and a 21-pin MTX socket for easy installation of a DCC sound decoder. The model also features a high-performance traction system, including a five-pole motor and all-wheel drive, allowing it to achieve a scale top speed of 60-65mph. The lighting pack features directional lighting, switchable marker lights, and separately switched cab lighting.
