The Oxford Rail 6 wheel 'Toad' is based on Diagram AA1 6 wheel version
500 of this, the four wheel variant, Diagram AA3 were built between 1889 - 1901.
The Oxford Rail model will show variations between the time that these vehicles were built and later when part of the wood planking had been replaced with steel sheets. (Hence later models are described as plated).

The Oxford Toad Brake Van model is a representation of a British Railways (BR) Toad brake van, produced in OO gauge. It is finished in BR grey livery and has a pristine paint finish. The model measures 107mm in length. The Toad brake van was a real-life vehicle introduced by the Great Western Railway (GWR) in 1894, which became an iconic part of freight travel.
The original GWR Toad vans were painted in various colours, including GWR grey and departmental yellow, with some versions displaying town names on the sides. A distinctive feature of the Toad design was the large guard compartment that spanned three-quarters of the chassis, accompanied by a veranda covering the remaining quarter.
This design allowed the guard or shunter to ride on the outside during shunting movements and journeys. The model is part of the Oxford Rail product range and is designed to represent a vehicle from the British Railways Early Crest period.
