Hornby IEP Bi‑Mode Class 800/0 Test Train Coach Pack, set number 800 002, contains three Hitachi Class 800 coaches – two Motor Standard Open (MSO) cars numbered 812 002 and 813 002, and one Motor Composite Open (MCO) car numbered 814 002. All coaches are finished in a pristine condition, are 334 mm long and carry the Hitachi test‑train livery.

The coaches are equipped with a minimum radius curve of 3 and have power pickup from the power car only. Coupling is via NEM or proprietary couplings, and the units can be coupled together in multiple formations.

The model represents Hitachi‑built pre‑production units from the Kasado plant and production units from the Newton Aycliffe facility. The prototypes were built between 2014 and 2018, reflecting the initial privatisation era of the UK rail network.
